When I read this I wondered if you had ADHD, then a few lines later you say your son does. Interesting. This reminded me of my high school friend who was a cokehead. He went later to a phychyatrist, phychologist? I don't know which one gives you medicine? He got a very light anti depressant and it completely turned his life around, because of just tweaking a small chemical imbalance. He became a doctor, and I am seriously not making this up. Its like the coke was balancing his mind thats why he was hooked on it, as soon as he had the proper medicine to balance his mind he didnt need the coke any more.
