Thank you for writing about this. I cannot because I have digressed in this area. I used to be a superior recycler. I worked as an English teacher in a garbage dump community in Mexico in my twenties and worked recycling into all my lessons. These poor people were living in a garbage dump because they didn't know how to recycle! Thank goodness the 22 year old white woman came from the "first world" to save them with my superior knowledge! Later in life I was shocked and disturbed to see some photos of the beautiful containers of recycling Canada had sent to Philippines. Apparently they didn't want toxic waste pissed covered shit. Apparently all my perfectly cleaned jam jars had been thrown in the same bin as the piss and sent to Asia, and not lovingly made into new jam jars here in Canada as I had assumed. How naïve I was. Perhaps the government authority over our blue plastic pails is to blame for the irreparable state of the world. Anyway, I'm done sorting.
